How to get out of singles? The 4 "reproductive advantages" that men and women care about most: Appearance is not a necessary condition
What does it mean to be “attractive”? In a modern society that values "appearance," good looks are often seen as one of the necessary conditions for being attractive. However, a study published in “Sage Journals” pointed out that people with “four traits” have a higher chance of successfully attracting the opposite sex, and have a better chance of becoming a “perfect partner” in the eyes of their partner. Good looks may not necessarily have an absolute advantage. .
Do men and women have different methods of attracting the opposite sex? Men prefer to show off, women prefer to hide
The team at the University of Nicosia in Cyprus recruited a total of 2,523 subjects and conducted 2 research procedures. In the first study, subjects were required to record in detail the specific behaviors they had engaged in in the past to “attract members of the opposite sex,” and their gender, age, sexual orientation, and marital status were recorded through a questionnaire. The researchers extracted 87 different behaviors and traits from the data of 326 subjects.
The second study further evaluated which behaviors occurred more frequently and whether there were differences between the sexes. 2,197 subjects rated 87 behaviors. The higher the score, the more attracted the attention of the opposite sex. Experimental results show that more than 84% of the subjects believe that “improving appearance” is a necessary measure to increase attractiveness; nearly 55% of the subjects said that they are willing to lose weight and improve their social media image in exchange for more people’s attention.
In addition, research has found that men and women do have different strategies for attracting the opposite sex. Women are more likely to “change their appearance”, such as taking care of their skin and hair, wearing flattering clothes or losing weight to gain favor from the opposite sex; while men like to “show resources” to attract attention, such as showing off what they see, hear, and wealth. or wisdom.
The research team believes that the key to the difference between men and women is that women tend to “cover up” various symptoms that harm their health, while men are happy to “show” health-improving characteristics.
Is “good looks” not a necessary condition for being single? All 4 traits have a reproductive advantage
Menelaos Apostolou, the author of the study, said that through the experimental results, it is known that for an individual to become a “more attractive partner”, the following four conditions need to be met, namely good character (such as kindness, reliability); resource provision ability (such as intelligence) , wealth); reproductive capacity, and the possibility of future development (such as both parties having similar personalities and common goals).
“Males or women with the above four traits are more attractive than others. These groups will have a greater mating success rate. They do have a reproductive advantage compared to unattractive groups.”
Apostolou believes that even if the above qualities are lacking, it is still important to be more honest, delicate, enthusiastic and positive. These qualities are the fastest possible way to make the other party take off their guard.
“However, our research points out that when both parties are familiar enough with each other, it is more reasonable for one of them to reveal their wisdom and resources. If you are eager to share your knowledge or wealth at the beginning, it will make others feel distant. "
Apostolou emphasizes that there is no single, quick way to build traction. If you think you are born with “lack of resources”, you might as well try to expand your social circle and cultivate interests, which will help enhance your sense of self-worth.
