Why are modern people prone to “hidden sadness”? Suicidal behavior often occurs “in the moment of thought”

Even though there are traces of specific suicidal behavior, most suicides often decide to commit suicide “in a moment of thought”. According to public information from the Harvard School of Public Health, a random interview with suicide survivors showed the following statistical results:

You have everything you want?” Under this concept, modern people’s The “happiness index” should be off the charts. But the real result is that modern people are under increasing pressure. Problems in their original family, competition in the workplace, social media comments, and even interpersonal interactions and sexual orientation problems may affect the quality of life. “‘Looks like happiness, but it’s “Suffering” is probably the most appropriate word to describe modern people.”

How to help patients get out of depression? Be alert if your relatives and friends show “3 signs”!

As for how people can help relatives, friends or family members who have suicidal tendencies to avoid regrets from happening? Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Department of Mental Health stated that if relatives and friends show the following signs: “abnormal emotional reactions”, intentionally or unintentionally revealing suicidal thoughts, or expressing extreme emotions (such as excessive cheerfulness or sadness); “clear suicide plans”, For example, behaviors such as purchasing unusual items (pesticides, charcoal) or writing suicide notes; and suddenly entrusting important things, such as entrusting one’s close relatives, pets or property to others for care or storage, you should be more vigilant.

If the above incident happens to relatives and friends around you, Professor Wu Jiayi, chairman of the Taiwan Depression Prevention and Treatment Association and professor of the Department of Nursing at National Taiwan University, calls for three major principles to be followed at this time:

  1. correctly understand the symptoms of depression.

  2. empathize with the patient’s suffering from depression and “listen more and talk less.”

  3. continuous companionship and care and timely connection with medical treatment.

Once you find that your relatives or friends around you have a different emotional state, or have recently taken psychotropic drugs, call on your relatives and friends to try their best to provide care and support. The Department of Mental Health of the Taiwan Ministry of Health and Welfare also reminds that when an individual’s depression reaches a certain level and presents an obvious sense of helplessness and despair, suicidal behavior is most likely to occur. It is urged that once you discover any mental illness, you must not hide the illness and seek medical treatment, and seek the assistance of a psychiatrist or counseling psychologist in a timely manner, which can help improve your physical and mental condition and reduce the occurrence of desperate thoughts and suicidal behavior.
